Decent looking car, but see for yourself.

The basics:

$7,500

172,000 miles

Manny tranny

Upgraded front brakes from 2005-06 GTO, LS7 clutch and flywheel

Pinion seal leak (Apparently a common issue on these cars)

Minor cosmetic dings and paint flaking (it’s a 12 year old Pontiac)

Looks to me like it’s a pretty nice car. The only thing that’s worrisome is that $7,500 is about $4,500 lower than the lowest priced GTO in the area.

Text from the ad:

2004 Barbados blue M6 GTO. 172,000 miles. Upgraded to larger 2005-06 front brake setup and LS7 clutch and flywheel.

If you’re familiar with GTOs, you know the parts that go first and most of them have been replaced. Since 2013, parts replaced:
Front struts and rear shocks
Front and rear rotors with new pads all-around
Both strut bushings and bearings
Both tie-rod ends
Both radius rod bushings
Both sway bar endlinks
LS7 clutch and flywheel
Slave cylinder
AC and main serp. belts
AC tensioner
Radiator
Diff fluid and friction modifier
Wrapped wiring under the glovebox, e-brake handle

I’m taking a job that will have me driving around the state and need something more fuel efficient.

It does have some GTO-specific flaws. The 6-disc changer doesn’t load discs. The driver’s side door handle paint is flaking and the door lock actuator is tripping an airbag fault. The pinion seal is leaking. The hood and front end have numerous rock chips and there are the dings you’d expect of a 12 year old car. No rust. Tires are good, more than 60 percent left.

Clean title in hand $7500. Cashier’s check or money order. No trades.

I love that people have to specify “no trades.” I know people love to offer some random crap, but to me it's like coming into a restaurant with $17 and a PS4 (wit 4 controllars!1) in order to settle a $150 dinner tab. I wouldn't have asked $7500 for it if I didn't want $7500.

I'd buy it just for the engine and trans.

Yep. Craigslist being craigslist. Usually my thing is to specify if I do want trades, rather than if I don’t want trades.

Crack pipe... 172K miles is A LOT for these cars, and ‘04's are the least desirable of the bunch. I’d say $4-5K for that one might be fair if they got the pinion leak fixed.

He’s done everything that needs to be done. It’s a solid car but that is higher mileage, for any vehicle. Rear seats are probably starting to separate at the stitching, but the (shitty fluid filled) bushings have been replaced. This car apparently eats suspension components (stock ones, anyway) since it is rather heavy.

But -It’s nicer than any F-body on the inside. It will ride smoother and quieter than any Ws6 or Z28 could ever dream to. And the LS1 drivetrain begs to be modified with a plethora of bolt-on parts. I love mine. And Barbados Blue is a great color. I say nice price as long as one is prepared for maintenance.

Holy shit. I bought my ‘06 with 9,700 miles on it last February for $20K

It would sure be close. I don’t know if I’d want an LS1 for that price though.

9,700 miles? $20k is a pretty solid deal.

Had to do a little work to pass smog due to the cam and headers, but nothing factory cat forward and a tune didn’t fix.

Luckily, in Indiana, you could literally run straight off the collectors and they wouldn’t care. Only thing you might get is a noise complaint.

Something worth looking into was when those parts were serviced.

If everything was replaced at 100,000 miles and it’s got 172,000, it might be time for another refresh already.

Yeah, I wanted to put the headers back on, but its a bitch. Thanks to CA I would have to every 2 years.... :/

Sounds like you need to make friends with a guy who works at a smog shop.

I know right?!?! The guys here at the dealership I work for wouldn’t do it, which I totally understand.

That’s a lot of fucking miles for one of those. And, I don’t think that color is particularly desirable. Although I like it because it’s almost teal and teal is the new brown.

Looks like it’s had a pretty hard life so far. Well cared for, but also used a lot. Lots of stuff not working and it leaks oil, therefore the low price. Not bad!

I bought my ‘04 in 2010 with 52k on it for $11,500. I say buy it. The things mentioned that go on it are all fairly easy fixes for the shadetree mechanic.

...I still need to do my struts and shocks too.

Seems about right considering miles and being an 04 instead of an 05/6.

The 5.7 LS1 is obviously a great motor (my TA has one), but I’d go for an 05-06 for the 6.0.

I’ve always personally liked that color. And, not that it matters, but that’s the rarest combination of all the 04-06 GTOs. They made 271 in Barbados Blue Metallic with the manual, BBM being only available in 2004 also.

Is Indianapolis too long of a drive to come to MN? I haven’t gotten mine posted for sale yet, but it’s going to be going up there this year.
